We are excited to announce that God has provided us with two new staff members: Director of Programs, Kristen Nelson, and Mission Advancement Director, Monica Groves. We are thrilled to have a full leadership team in place. Thank you for your prayers, friends.
Director of Programs, Kristen Nelson
Kristen Nelson has accepted the Director of Programs position, effective April 11th. She comes to us from the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation where she has been a Spiritual Care Counselor.
Kristen was the Founder and, for five years, the Director of The Restoration Center, a Central Lutheran Church ministry serving the homeless. Prior to her work at The Restoration Center, she served as a hospital chaplain, and in congregational ministry.
She has rich experience in leading staff and organizations and in working with individuals who have experienced trauma.
She holds a BA in Education, and a Masters of Divinity. She has completed a Clinical Pastoral Residency and two years towards a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership.
Kristen has a heart for sharing the hope found in Christ that allows people to move forward into new life.
Mission Advancement Director, Monica Groves
Monica Groves has accepted the position of Mission Advancement Director, effective April 11th. She comes with a rich background that encompasses Christian higher education, ministry, event leadership, and program development.
She has served as Dean of Student Life at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul; has been director of ministry for children and families at First Covenant Church, Minneapolis; and was on the leadership team of Set Apart, a faith-filled conference for women.
Monica has also served on the executive board of the Association of Christians in Student Development; the Student Life subcommittee for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities; and the Christian Education Board for the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
She holds a BA in ministry/Christian education from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, and an MA in Higher Education/Student Life from Azusa Pacific University.
As a single woman, Monica enjoys sharing faith and life with her family and friends.
At The Dwelling Place, she volunteered for the 2015 Gala silent auction, the 2016 Gala silent auction committee, and the program committee.
Monica is very excited to work with leadership and staff, volunteers, and donors to advance the mission and ministry of The Dwelling Place.
