The Dwelling Place Values identify our core values and guiding principles for all operations and relationships of the ministry.

The Dwelling Place exists to break the generational cycle of abuse by equipping and empowering women through the love of Jesus Christ so they can experience lasting freedom.

our case for support

The Dwelling Place provides comprehensive information to reveal the compelling need for housing and caring support to address the trauma and homelessness resulting from domestic abuse (including domestic violence.)

The Dwelling Place was established in 1998 to provide for both the physical and the spiritual needs of a woman and her children after fleeing a violent partner.  The ministry offered safe housing with Christian spiritual guidance and programs.  It was founded based on the understanding that in order to help victims of domestic abuse heal from their emotional wounds, there needed to be a holistic Christ-centered approach; this belief is at the core of The Dwelling Place’s mission.

The Dwelling Place opened in a single family home on the east side of St. Paul and then in 2001, received the use of two St. Paul homes, providing housing for seven women and their 10 children.  In 2013, The Dwelling Place purchased and started renovations on two duplexes in the north metro. Since that time, we have consolidated all housing to the North Metro and now have the equivalent of eight single family homes with capacity to support up to 54 women (by 2019) and their children at one time.
