The Dwelling Place is a Christ-centered ministry providing healing and hope to victims of domestic abuse through supportive services and a safe, transitional place to call home.

Our Mission

OUR VISION

Transforming lives through Christ’s love.

My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
— Isaiah 32:18

The Dwelling Place exists to break the generational cycle of abuse by equipping and empowering women and their children through the love of Jesus so they can experience lasting freedom.

Our Values

  • The Word of God and saving grace of Jesus informs all of our ministry teaching, interactions, and actions.

  • Our care is rooted in an awareness of the signs, symptoms, and risks of trauma resulting from abuse to promote a culture of safety, empowerment, and healing.

  • We promote open dialog within our program and in communication with our supporters.

  • We use equipping and empowering strategies, utilize best practices, and celebrate achievements to God’s glory.

  • We manage all resources with integrity, accountability, confidentiality, trust, and respect, knowing it all comes from God.

  • → We will continue to provide safe, welcoming, and well-maintained housing to accommodate up to 57 individuals at one time.

→ We will collaborate with our community partners to provide referrals for other safe housing alternatives.

→ We will provide basic needs, home furnishings, and transportation.

  • → We will provide case management, advocacy, and referral-based services to 100% of participants.

→ We will offer educational programming that includes information on financial solvency and the development of the necessary life/job skills needed to survive independently.

→ We will assist participants in securing and maintaining a full-time job or find other sustainable income and enrolling in educational classes to increase career opportunities.

→ We will encourage participation in Alumni programming once the women are living independently through our training, educational programming, case management, and mentorship.

  • → We will offer 100% of program participants opportunities for spiritual development.

→ We will recruit and train staff and volunteers who personify and model a positive Christian lifestyle.

  • → We will offer parenting classes, family, and individual therapy as needed to all program participants in an effort to help them understand the dynamics of domestic abuse, the patterns and cycles of abuse, and help them to develop the skills needed to prevent future abusive relationships.

→ We will educate and advocate for 100% of the children living in the home by offering specific services such as play therapy, individual therapy, and support groups as needed.

→ We will facilitate weekly support group that focuses on teaching women about the implications and symptoms of trauma on their lives as well as the lives of their children. We will affirm them, replace lies with truth, teach practical skills, and work to create a healing environment.

  • → The Dwelling Place shares best practices, strategy, and resources with other domestic abuse organizations. We desire to continue to be a resource to these organizations as the need for like-minded organizations supporting domestic abuse victims continues to grow.
