Find lasting freedom from domestic abuse.

The Dwelling Place offers transitional care & recovery

The Dwelling Place was established in 1998 to provide for the physical, emotional, and the spiritual needs of a woman and her children after fleeing from an abusive partner. It was founded on the understanding that in order to help victims of domestic abuse heal from their emotional wounds, there needed to be a holistic Christ-centered approach. This belief is at the core of The Dwelling Place’s mission. We originally opened in a single family home and now have five homes (Sandy’s Place, Ruth’s Place, Esther’s Place, Marian’s Place, and Lydia’s Place) with a total capacity to house 57 women and children at one time. We are blessed and grateful to provide a safe place to call home and well-defined support services for women and children who are homeless and traumatized because of domestic abuse.

Children’s program for your littles

Children’s program assists children in finding hope, enable healing, increase well-being and feelings of safety, and to facilitate an understanding and an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and as a source of strength.

Individualized support services to help you heal

In addition to housing, our programming includes:

  • Case Management

  • Bible Study

  • Advocacy for employment and housing search

  • Support Groups which allow residents to move toward healing – such as classes on Financial Education, Life Skills, Healthy Cooking, Parenting, Health Care, Home Care, Chemical Dependency

  • Domestic Abuse Education Courses for both the women and children

  • Individualized Therapy with a local mental health organization

We also provide referrals and community resources as needed.

A safe home & loving community

We create a safe home environment and a supportive community. Many of the women and children who come to us have a long history of living in constant fear of abuse, degradation, and humiliation. The children especially, often express an enormous amount of relief and sense of safety when they realize they are now in a safe home. While living in our homes, the women and children participate in healing, life-changing programming, advocacy to overcome barriers, and life skills development.

Christ-centered to give you hope

The Dwelling Place exists to break the generational cycle of abuse by equipping and empowering women through the love of Jesus Christ so they can experience lasting freedom.

A post-graduate support network

The Alumni Program’s purpose is to ensure sustained freedom from abuse and provide a faith-building community of support, encouragement, and love in Christ.
